How the polar winter shaped Northlight's dark theme, and why it is the default.
For a few weeks every winter, the sun does not rise where we work. Screens become the brightest thing in the room, and most analytics tools feel like staring into a lamp.
Dark by default, light when you want it
Northlight starts dark and follows your system setting. Every color pair in both themes passes WCAG AA, including text on charts.
Color that means something
Violet marks what you asked about; teal marks what changed. Everything else stays quiet, so the signal stands out.
